Fuji Omuro Sengen Shrine (冨士御室浅間神社), traditionally founded in 699 CE, is recorded as the oldest shrine on Mount Fuji and consists of two sites: the okumiya (inner shrine) at the second station of the Yoshida climbing route, and the satomiya (lower shrine) on the shore of Lake Kawaguchi. The satomiya's main hall, built in 1612, is designated a National Important Cultural Property. The shrine is one of the component sites of the UNESCO World Heritage Site "Fujisan — Sacred Place and Source of Artistic Inspiration," inscribed in 2013.
