Hotaka Jinja venerates the majestic peaks of the Northern Japan Alps, particularly Mount Hotaka (3,190 m), which is the third-highest peak in Japan. The main shrine (Honsha) stands in Azumino, Nagano Prefecture, while the Okumiya inner sanctuary at the mountain's base and the Summit Shrine (Oku-no-in) at 2,909 m complete the three-site complex.
