Chichibu Shrine
Chichibu Shrine in Chichibu, Saitama, is the spiritual center of the mountainous Chichibu region and enshrines Yagokoroomotehime-no-Mikoto and Chichibu-no-Mikoto. The shrine is celebrated as the home of the Chichibu Yomatsuri (Night Festival), held each December and designated a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. The festival features enormous illuminated floats drawn through the city streets amid winter fireworks, and ranks as one of Japan's three greatest float festivals.
The Chichibu Night Festival is one of Japan's three great float festivals, alongside Kyoto's Gion Matsuri and Takayama Matsuri.
