Fujishima Jinja in Fukui City enshrines Nitta Yoshisada (1301–1338), the loyal general who raised the imperial banner at Fujishima in his final battle against the Ashikaga forces. He is venerated as a model of samurai loyalty and military valor. The shrine was established in 1870 and formally opened in 1876, designated as one of the Kenmu Chuko Fourteen Shrines.
