Asakusa Shrine in Taito, Tokyo, stands adjacent to the famous Sensoji Temple and enshrines the three founders of the temple — Hinokuma Hamanari, Hinokuma Takenari, and Hajino Nakatomo. The shrine is best known as the home of the Sanja Matsuri, held annually in May, when three great mikoshi representing the three founders are carried through the streets of Asakusa in one of the liveliest festivals in the capital.
