Wakumusubi no Kami is the deity of young, vital growth and the burgeoning power of new life. The name combines 'waku' (to spring forth, to bubble up) and 'musubi' (the binding creative power present in Takamimusubi and Kamimusubi). From the head of Wakumusubi grew the silkworm and the mulberry tree, establishing the foundations of silk culture in Japan, according to the Kojiki.
