Maeda Toshiie (1538–1599) was one of Oda Nobunaga's most trusted generals who later became a leading figure in Toyotomi Hideyoshi's government (one of the Go-Tairon, Five Elders). He founded the Kaga domain centered on Kanazawa, which became one of the wealthiest outside Tokugawa territories. He is enshrined at Oyama Jinja in Kanazawa alongside his wife Matsu.
