Oyama Shrine (Kanazawa)
Oyama Jinja in Kanazawa enshrines Lord Maeda Toshiie (1538–1599), the founder of the Kaga Domain and ancestor of the Maeda clan that ruled the region for three centuries. Built in 1599, the shrine is famous for its unique three-story Shinmon gate (1875), which blends Japanese, Dutch, and Gothic architectural elements and was used as a lighthouse to guide ships into Kanazawa port. The gate is designated a National Important Cultural Property.
