Otokonushi Shrine
Uhashi Shrine (菟橋神社), affectionately known locally as "Osuwasan," is one of the oldest shrines in Kaga Province, with traditional founding in 704 CE and clear documentary evidence in the 10th-century Engishiki, which lists it among eight Shikinaisha of Nomi District. Designated by Maeda Toshitsune in 1651 as the protective guardian of both Komatsu and Kanazawa castles, the shrine gained provincial significance during the Edo period. The poet Matsuo Basho visited during his famous Oku no Hosomichi journey in 1689, and the shrine today hosts celebrated spring and autumn festivals featuring traditional floats and children's kabuki.
