The wise old deity of salt and sea who guided the hunter Hoori (Mountain Luck) to the underwater palace of Watatsumi when he sought his brother's lost fishhook. Also said to have advised Emperor Jimmu's eastern expedition. Enshrined at Shiogama Shrine (Miyagi) and other coastal sites.
