The great national spirit (kunitama) of the Yamato region, enshrined at Yamato Okunitama Jinja (Omiwa Jinja area) in Nara. This deity embodies the collective spiritual essence of the ancient Yamato heartland and was one of the first deities enshrined in the Yamato court alongside Amaterasu.
