Takeiwatatsu no Mikoto (健磐龍命) is a warrior deity of the Aso region of Kumamoto Prefecture. He is traditionally identified as a son of the imperial line who was sent to pacify the Aso region, drained Lake Aso (which once filled the caldera), and established agriculture there. He is the principal deity of the ancient Aso Jinja (Ichinomiya of Higo Province) and is associated with the volcanic activity of Mt. Aso, one of the world's largest calderas.
