About
Matsudaira Yoshinaga (1828–1890), also known as Matsudaira Shungaku, was the sixteenth and last major lord of Fukui (Echizen) domain. One of the 'Four Wise Lords' of the late Edo period, he sought to reform the shogunate from within during the bakumatsu crisis. After the Meiji Restoration he served in various government roles. He is enshrined at Fukui Jinja in Fukui City.
